Year 4 - Read Together

Year 4 made the most of the beautiful weather this week during their read together session. The children and the adults had a lovely time sharing their favourite books in the area outside their classrooms.

Nursery Sports Day!

Friday 26 June 2015

The nursery children were prepared...the weather was beautiful...the parents were waiting...it was nursery sports day!

With the sun smiling down on them, the excited children had a fantastic morning negotiating the obstacle course. Parents clapped and cheered as the avid athletes ran, jumped, slid and crawled their way round. Without a doubt, everyone (adults included!) was exhausted as the event came to a close and they all enjoyed well earned refreshments of juice, tea and scrumptious cakes back in the Nursery garden.
Well done everyone and thank you to all the parents for their support.

Year 6 - A day at Duxford

Thursday 25 June 2015

On Wednesday Year 6 went to Duxford Imperial War Museum. Dressed as evacuees, the enthusiastic children were able to get hands on experience of real World War II artefacts and talk to experts.

The weather was fantastic and the wide range of activities ensured that there was something of interest for everyone. Bombs were disposed of safely, uniforms were modelled and sirens were sounded. Responding quickly to the gas attack sirens was a lot of fun as we all ensured that we could put on our gas masks quickly and efficiently.

Not only was the day extremely enjoyable we think everyone, including the adults, learnt something too!

Writers of the Week

Each week a ‘Writer of the week’ is selected from every class for special effort or achievement in writing. These children are rewarded at our celebration assembly with a certificate and their work is displayed in school.

Sports People of the Week

Each week outstanding performance, effort and achievement in P.E and sporting activities is identified by our qualified Sports Coaches and class teachers. Pupils who shine in lessons, clubs and activities outside of school are recognised and celebrated each week in our Friday celebration assembly.
Well done to all the children for their fantastic sporting efforts last week!

Year 2 - Sharing Assembly

Wednesday 24 June 2015

Pupils in Year 2 presented a wonderful assembly on Tuesday afternoon, sharing with their parents and carers all the amazing things they have been learning about this term. As well as demonstrating their times tables and maths skills and explaining how to protect the environment (reduce, reuse and recycle) they also sang songs with a theme of Road Safety and Habitats (which link to their Literacy and Science Topics). Being such fantastic children, they also demonstrated some moves learnt at Dance Club!
Well done to everyone in Year 2...everyone is incredibly proud of you all!

Year 2 - P.E.

Year 2 have been enjoying developing their PE skills this year with the support of the Premier Sports Team. The children love practising their throwing, catching and aiming skills outside in the sunshine!

Athletics at Drapers Academy

Tuesday 23 June 2015

Hilldene's athletics team enjoyed a day of running, throwing and jumping in the beautiful sunshine at Draper's Academy last Thursday. The children selected from years two to six showed exemplary behaviour and a positive attitude throughout all of the events.

Year 5 did especially well coming second out of the five schools, with only the overall champions St. Ursula's beating them!

Well done to everyone who took part!
