Year 5 - Writing to persuade

Tuesday 17 March 2020

In Year 5, we have been writing to persuade. Before we did this, we had a class debate about whether Aunt Glo and Rashid should contact the press as their son has disappeared. Surprisingly Year 5 were were extremely good at arguing their point using evidence from the text.

We then used the information from the debate to write to persuade the reader. The last part of the journey was to edit our work.

We used editing stations to remain focused with what we needed to include. These stations included; punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, uplevelling words and spelling. Here are some pictures of our editing stations.

Year 5 – Unit 5.4 We are protecting our online reputation

The children in year five have been learning about the best ways of protecting their online reputation by developing strategies to avoid posting inappropriate content online. All the children have been asked to undertake a web search with their grown-ups at home about a member of their family (or someone famous, if more appropriate) to find out what information is available about these individuals. Please support them in their learning and contact the school if you need help in completing this task.
