Year 1 - Read together morning

Tuesday, 17 September 2019

Today saw the second week of ‘read together morning’ in Year 1 and it was lovely to see lots of parents attending. Read together is every Tuesday until 9:05 and is a lovely opportunity to share a book with your child, grandchild or niece or nephew. We look forward to seeing you soon.

5R - Swimming Lessons

5R began their swimming lessons today. They all worked extremely hard to show the swimming teachers what they already know. The children are excited to go again next week.

Some of them learnt how to breathe underwater while others swam on their back. One group even learnt how to dive in the water from the side of the pool!

Mrs Redmond and Mrs Wallace are very proud of their efforts this week!

2A - Material Hunt

In Science, we have been learning about materials and their properties. On Monday, we went on a material hunt around the school to explore different objects and determine what material they are made from. The children worked extremely hard and challenged themselves to explain why the material was used and if there was an alternative material that could have been used. Well done 2A!

Reception stay to lunch

Reception children have enjoyed staying to lunch. They all brought healthy packed lunch boxes and ate in the dinner hall, then went out to play with years 1 and 2.

Year 2 - The Gingerbread Man

Monday, 16 September 2019

In Year 2, we have been reading the story of the gingerbread man. We have enjoyed writing our own stories and enjoyed designing our own gingerbread man using play dough. It was lots of fun to take our knowledge of the story and use adjectives to describe the gingerbread man that we were making. We have enjoyed our first full week in Year 2 and can’t wait to see what we will be learning this week.
