Year 6 - Able Maths Day

Friday, 16 November 2018

On Tuesday 13th of November, four children from year 6 went to The Mawney Foundation School's Able Maths Day. They experienced a range of problem solving activities from 'The Money Maze' to creating factorials. The children particularly enjoyed making their very own 'A-Z of maths' tablecloth. They are now keen to share their new learning with the rest of Year 6 although they will need some Marigold gloves to explain one way of working out some of the trickier times tables! All the children were an absolute credit to the school throughout the trip - fantastic!

The children in the nursery have been learning about Diwali and how it is celebrated. They then made Diva Lamps using clay and then painted them red before covering them in gold glitter.

Year 4 - Hands On Addition

Wednesday, 14 November 2018

In Year 4, we have been adding with 4 digit numbers. The children have been using objects to help them see how to add using larger numbers. The children have also been showing their understanding by drawing out objects to add.

"I really like using objects to help me show my understanding, and it has helped me to think about what the values of each digit shows." Jak, Year 4
