Hockey Success for Hilldene

Monday 10 March 2014

Following weeks of intensive training with Miss Whitham, eight year six children took part in the Havering Quicksticks Hockey Tournament on Friday 28th February - which was held at The Coopers' Company Coburn School in Upminster.

Armed with their hockey sticks and gum shields, the team proudly represented Hilldene Primary, facing 23 other schools from around the borough. Initially, the tournament began on a league basis, with Hilldene playing 5 matches against the opposing teams in their league.

Despite valiant and skilful play, unfortunately the team were not in the top two teams who progressed to the quarter finals; however, they were able to taste victory in the play offs for third place in their league- winning 2-1!

The team played very well in their first hockey competition, winning 2 games, drawing 2 games and losing 2 games. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and were a credit to the school.

Thank you to everyone who took part and to Miss Whitham for her fabulous coaching!
