Year 6 - Get Creative Making Shelters

Wednesday 22 June 2016

Year 6 have been learning about World War Two and the precautions that were taken to keep people safe. Anderson Shelters were a popular air raid shelter that were built before and during the conflict.

In Design Technology Year 6 have designed, created and evaluated their own mini shelters using a range of materials. Instead of corrugated steel panels we used corrugated card. Our shelters were built to look beautiful and clearly wouldn't withstand an enemy attack! Attention to detail was an important aspect of their creations. Gardens, furniture, washing lines and even bomb craters were made to decorate and camouflage the shelters.

They were fun to make and we learnt a lot too!
