Christmas cheer filled the canteen on Wednesday as over 440 children enjoyed a festive Christmas lunch. With tasty turkey, crispy roast potatoes, nutritious vegetables and a cheeky chipolata, all the children enjoyed the delicious delights and behaved beautifully. Enormous thanks to all the staff who worked incredibly hard to make the meal a great success.

Children in KS2 took a trip down the yellow brick road to
Kansas on Monday afternoon in pursuit of a heart, courage and brains when the Cat's Grin Theatre company entertained them with The Wizard of Oz. Cheers, applause and laughter rang around the hall as the children eagerly followed Dorothy and friends to the Emerald City to meet the wonderful wizard.
With silver shoes replacing the legendary ruby slippers; the Wicked Witch from the West being destroyed by a 'super-soaker' and Mr Simmonds making a guest appearance as the wardrobe mistress, the children thoroughly enjoyed the unique pantomime version of this well-known story.

Over the past few weeks children have been donating unwanted
toys, books and games in readiness for Hilldene's 'Bring and Buy' sale. With tables groaning under the strain of all the generous donations, doors were swung open on Friday when excited children flocked to the hall ready to purchase a bargain!
In addition to soft toys, games and books, classes sold their products made on Maths day; Year 6 sold puzzle books; Year 5 sold hand sewn book marks; Year 4 sold tasty tortillas; Year 1 sold festive Christmas cards.
Undoubtedly the sale was a huge success, made possible by every child and member of staff who contributed and helped with the sale - pretty much everyone! A huge Hilldene thank you.

Shoppers stopped shopping... tills stopped ringing... toes started tapping on Friday morning as Hilldene's choir sang Christmas carols at Lakeside shopping centre. Wearing festive Christmas hats, the talented, young choristers sang their favourite Christmas carols, accompanied by Mrs Davenport on the recorder.
Enchanted by the calming carolling, generous shoppers expressed their delight by donating their spare change to the chosen charity- The Salvation Army. Over £200 was collected, which will be added to collections following Christmas performances.
The morning ended with a cheery rendition of 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas,' before the children returned to school at lunchtime.
Thank you to Miss Sloan for organising the event, the choir for their fantastic singing and to all the parents for their help with transport.
