The children in year three have been learning what is meant by a ‘digital footprint’ and how data about their internet activity is collected passively without them actively authorising this and how this compares with their active digital footprint.
They have discussed how everything shared on the internet can be found, shared, broadcast and copied and that it lasts forever. Please discuss this with your child and support them in keeping a diary of their family digital footprint at home.

The children in year four have been finding out ways that people might try to steal our personal information such as hacking, phishing or the use of viruses. All children have been asked to talk to their parents about these risks and share a family action plan they have created to help everyone in your household to protect personal information. Please support their learning by looking at and adding to this action plan where appropriate.

The online safety unit this half term has been about the different ways people communicate online and what is meant by ‘personal information.’
The children have learnt that anyone online that they don’t know in real life is a stranger and what to do if someone online asks them for personal information. The children will be bringing home a Family Online Action Plan – please discuss this and fill it in with your child.

The year four children have been learning that access to the internet is not the same for everyone. They have also been learning how to deal with negative peer pressure, especially when it comes to the use of technology. They have also thought about how peer pressure can be a positive influence too.
Children have been encouraged to discuss any situations where they have felt pressured to do something by others with their parents and carers at home.

Year 3 Online Safety - We are Digital Friends!
The year three children have been learning to understand what is meant by online bullying and its consequences. They have discussed how and where online bullying can occur and the role of the bystander. They have thought about the consequences of online bullying for the victim and the perpetrator and how information shared online cannot always be controlled.
Please discuss this with your child at home and how they should respond if they were being bullied online.
