Year 4 are Online Risk Managers!
Tuesday, 10 March 2020
The children in year four have been finding out ways that people might try to steal our personal information such as hacking, phishing or the use of viruses. All children have been asked to talk to their parents about these risks and share a family action plan they have created to help everyone in your household to protect personal information. Please support their learning by looking at and adding to this action plan where appropriate.

On Friday 31st January, 4W took part in an Anti-Idling event. The children spent the morning learning all about pollution effects on the world we live and what we can do to have a positive impact on our environment.
In the afternoon, our visitor lead an assembly to educate and inform all children in KS2 about the impact of idling.
The day concluded with the children actively raising awareness out on the roadside, talking to any drivers who were idling (sat stationary with their engines on). It was a very successful event and it has certainly had an impact in the way our class now see cars on the road.
The children have learnt a lot from the event and want to spread a very clear message for you all - Don't be an idler, turn off your engines!

Maths Day in Year 4
The children spent Maths Day 2020 looking at a range of puzzling mathematical challenges. The children spent time working with the number 42, finding different routes to the number and what made the number so fantastic.
They also worked with tangrams and pentominoes, working collaboratively to solve a number of challenging puzzles. Well done to all the children in Year 4 for taking part and working hard!

The year four children have been learning that access to the internet is not the same for everyone. They have also been learning how to deal with negative peer pressure, especially when it comes to the use of technology. They have also thought about how peer pressure can be a positive influence too.
Children have been encouraged to discuss any situations where they have felt pressured to do something by others with their parents and carers at home.

While we were editing and improving our work, we focussed on spellings, punctuation used, grammar, choice of vocabulary and overall structure of the text.
Frankie F (4W) - ‘if you edit and improve your writing then it is going to make your writing even more exciting and powerful for the reader!’

This half term the year three and four children have been reviewing, discussing and editing the Online Safety Rules that they wrote last year. They have discussed and recalled their learning from last year and updated their rules. They will be bringing home a copy of them to share with parents and carers. Please display them in a prominent place at home and discuss how they have changed with your child.
