JTAs Visit The London Transport Museum

Thursday, 21 May 2015

On Wednesday, our Year 6 Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs), accompanied by Miss Watson and Mrs Ray, had a fantastic day out in Covent Garden . The London Transport Museum provided the perfect venue for all the JTAs from Havering schools to meet and celebrate  their work and dedication as travel ambassadors throughout the year. In addition to receiving thanks and praise, the children also learned a lot about London Transport and enjoyed looking at the different transport through the ages, from buses and trains to taxis.

They took part in a workshop where they looked at posters used on the underground and even attempted to create their own!

All the children were brilliantly behaved and a great day was had be all!

Year 3 - Ocean Maths

Year 3 enjoyed another very successful Ocean Maths session with parents last week. During maths lessons the children have been developing their addition and subtraction skills and they relished the opportunity to demonstrate these skills to their parents by playing some number games and solving missing number problems.

Thank you to all the parents for attending and making the session so enjoyable!

Year 3 - Visit Hyde Hall

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

Despite the typical British weather, Year 3 really enjoyed their day out at Hyde Hall on Monday. There were plenty of activities to keep them occupied; such as feeding fish, building habitats in the forest and going on a nature trail. The children also made a book mark each and planted a pea, which they brought back to school to nurture and observe. The parents who volunteered were a great help and their support was very much appreciated. A great day was had by everyone.

Reception - Bog Baby

Tuesday, 19 May 2015

Last week pupils in Reception looked at the book called 'Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis.  Using their imaginations, the creative children designed their very own 'Bog Baby.'  Fluffy feathers... googly eyes...jingling bells and bendy pipe cleaners: These are just some of the materials used to decorate the playdough models, resulting in some very imaginative designs!  Inspired by their model making, some of the children also wrote descriptions of their 'babies'. Well done to everyone in Reception!

Year 6 Boost their Brain Power!

Thursday, 14 May 2015

Our Year 6 pupils are getting the best start to their SATs tests this week by enjoying a free breakfast every morning. Doors open at 8.00 am and everyone from year 6 is welcome to attend. With a variety of healthy cereals, toast and fruit juice to choose from, over sixty hungry 'customers' have attended every day.

By eating breakfast with their friends, pupils are able to keep anxiety to a minimum and ensure that, as well as being academically ready, they are physically ready to do their very best work. After breakfast there is still time for some fresh air and a bit of exercise before the school day begins. What a great start to the day!

Well done Year 6. Keep working hard!

Year 5 - Art

Friday, 1 May 2015

While most of the Year 5 children have gone to Stubbers, the 'Non-Stubbers Crew' has been very busy at school! We have been doing lots of art-based activities: we made Northern Light pictures using black sugar paper and water oil pastels, and we made our very own world globes using papier-mâché! Additionally, we have been creating power points about our own interests and enjoying playing games in PE. It's been a very exciting few days and we can't wait to show off our finished products!

Year 5 - Stubbers Day 2

After a good nights sleep and a hearty breakfast, everyone has had a great day facing fears and achieving challenges. With the sun smiling down on them, the children have continued to approach every activity with enthusiasm and excitement!
