Thank you to everyone who attended Parents' Evening
appointments over the last two weeks and to all the parents and carers who
completed the Parent View survey. Your views are very important to us and we
appreciate you taking the time to share them. As you may be aware, everyone who
completed the survey received a raffle ticket and was entered into the prize
draw for £25 Tesco voucher. The lucky winner was drawn in assembly today. Well
done to the parents of Renee in Year 6!

Our green-fingered Reception children have been watching the
vegetables growing in our garden and were keen to help when it was time to
gather them in. As part of our harvest celebrations Mr Winch showed the
children how to make soup with the vegetables they had grown and they were very
excited to taste it! We are pleased to say that all the children were
happy to taste the soup and thought it was delicious!

Harvest Festival was celebrated last week
at Hilldene with pupils and staff joined by school Governors and
Russell Moul (St Paul's church) to give thanks. Songs were sung...thanks were
given...heads were bowed in quiet reflection, as we all
considered everything we have to be thankful for.
Thank you to all the generous
pupils and parents who kindly donated food items which made a colourful
display in our halls and the Nursery. Your donations were distributed to
members of the local community nominated by the pupils and their families.

were a credit to the school and played with passion, determination and
skill. We're looking forward to our next match on Tuesday 20th
October at Mead Primary School. Come along and give us a cheer!

Hilldene
football team kicked off the new season positively,
with a resounding victory over the reigning champions (Broadford
Primary) last Thursday. After withstanding a strong challenge from
the Broadford boys in the first half, our Hilldene heroes played as a
unit demonstrating fantastic team work. Their 1-0 lead from the first
half was extended early in the second with another set piece move started
by, the “man of the match”, Bobby. With a third goal five
minutes from the final whistle, our defence remained rock solid and
stopped the relentless attacks from the persistent Broadford team to keep
our score sheet clean.
Congratulations on the final score - 3-0 !
Special thanks to all the support received from friends and family. Hopefully, the terrific team will continue their winning ways in our next match against Brookside Juniors.

Year 3 - Shape week!
Last week
in maths lessons, pupils in Year 3 were developing their knowledge and
understanding of 2D and 3D shapes. Whilst some pupils used iPads to
take photographs of real life shapes identified around the school, other pupils
used materials to make their own 3D shapes. Without a doubt, sharing their
findings and explaining their learning enabled everyone to develop their
understanding and learn from each other and also have fantastic fun! . Homework
this week was for the pupils to explore their homes and gardens to
identify, draw and name shapes found in their home environment. We look forward
to finding out what they have discovered!

Thank
you for your support in encouraging your children in Reception and KS1 to have
a free school meal yesterday.
Everyone
appeared to enjoy their lunch and we hope that for some this may encourage them
to take up the opportunity of a hot meal at lunch time more often.
