Would you buy this house?

Monday, 25 January 2016

With the theme of Stoneage homes, eager pupils in Year 3 considered the audience and purpose for persuasive writing this week. Having considered all the fantastic features of the ancient dwellings and collected word banks of key words and phrases, the budding writers wrote an advertisement for a stoneage dwelling.

With great pride, Riley (from 3B) shared his creative advert with his peers in assembly on Friday. Read it and see - would you buy this house?

Year 4 - Parents' lesson

On Friday, pupils in Year 4 invited their parents to join them for a Literacy lesson. Eager pupils and proud parents enjoyed learning about the features of newspaper reports and had the opportunity to write their own report based on the story 'Krindlekrax' by Philip Ridley.

Without a doubt, it was a fantastic opportunity for the young learners to share their learning and even teach their parents!

Many thanks to everyone who joined us!

Reception - Firefighters Visit

Our reception children had a great time this week when the local firefighters came to visit.  Pupils asked lots of interesting questions and found out about the firefighters and the fire engine, as well as having the chance to see the water being sprayed from the giant hose.  Lots of children got to try on the firefighters uniform and everyone got to sit inside the fire engine!

5-a-side Football

Thursday, 21 January 2016

On Wednesday the football team left Hilldene with high hopes of securing a place in the finals of the Havering Sports Collective 5-a-side competition.

We were placed in pool C facing Harold Wood, Clockhouse, St. Mary's, Newtons, St. Patrick's, Langtons and Parsonage Farm. In the first game against Parsonage Farm we were unfortunately defeated 3-1 despite showing excellent skill and team work.  We came back strong winning 3 goals to 1 against St. Mary's.  Disappointingly Newton's managed to defend against all of our shots defeating us 3-0.

We were victorious against Clockhouse and Langtons  2-1 however were beaten 4 goals to none by St. Patrick's.

We came 5th overall in our pool, showed resilience, team work and positive attitude throughout.

Upminster Juniors defeated St. Patrick's to be crowned overall victors.

School Games Crew Competition

Using their exceptional organisation skills, the school games crew planned, resourced and ran a intra-school competition during lunch time.  There was a fantastic uptake with many children representing their House Team. The results will be announced today in celebration assembly, good luck everyone!
