This week Katherine from the Rainbow Trust children's charity visited all the children in assembly. The charity provides emotional and practical support for families who have a child that is extremely poorly. With the children all listening attentively, Katherine explained different ways the charity helps the children - by giving them special toys and an exciting box of activities to have whilst visiting or staying in hospital. Also, people working for the charity try to cheer the poorly children up by doing fun things like face painting.
The charity doesn't forget about the parents either... they look after them by helping to drive them around; helping at home with jobs like washing that can't get done because the parent is at the hospital. They also chat to the parents about how they are feeling, which helps the parents when they are very worried.
Our School Council has decided that we would like to raise some money to help support this worthwhile cause. Any ideas you may have about how to raise money - like a cake sale - should be given to the school council representatives in your class.
