Year 6 - Mayan Masterpieces
Friday, 7 November 2014
Year
6 have been using clay to create Mayan Pyramids. The original versions were
built by the Mayan people who lived in Mexicao, nearly 3,000 years ago.
They were constructed for sacrificial rituals and sacred ceremonies using only
wooden tools. Some pyramids were 200 feet high, with traps, tunnels and secret
doors. We made detailed miniature versions, including steps and
temples at the top - it was lots of fun and proved how incredibly
clever the Mayans were at architecture and construction!
