A Fond Farewell!

Friday, 27 March 2015

With great sadness, staff and pupils bid a fond farewell to Mrs Davenport today. After 11 very successful years as Headteacher at Hilldene Primary, she is now leaving to spend more time with her lovely family, particularly her two gorgeous grandchildren. During her busy time at the school, Mrs Davenport has always inspired, motivated and encouraged all members of the school community to be their 'best best' through her positive and determined outlook. Without a doubt, Mrs Davenport will be greatly missed; however, staff, pupils, parents and governors wish her every happiness in the future and a restful, relaxing retirement!

Well done to all the children who beautifully and creatively decorated eggs for the annual Decorated Egg Competition. All the staff were completely amazed and extremely impressed by the imaginative and creative designs. Picking the winners was difficult...very difficult!

Congratulations to all our winners!

Year 5 - The E-safety Rap!

Year 5 have been working very hard this term. As part of their ICT lessons, the children created their own e-safety rap to inform others of the dangers of the internet. They thought really hard about the lyrics and messages they wanted to put across. Mrs Delmonte and the staff were very impressed with the rap and the children enjoyed performing it to the whole school this week!

You can watch the rap here below:

Year 6 - Library Visits

Thursday, 26 March 2015

Pupils in Year 6 visited the local library on Wednesday morning and discovered how to access information books online. In order to read books at home on laptops and tablets, the eager pupils explored how to access E-books. Some advantages of reading E-books (which were discussed) were being able to read books at the same time as their friends, borrowing books for as long as they want to and not having to carry lots of books around!

After having time to look at both the books available in the library and online, everyone excitedly chose a book to borrow which they then took back to school to read!

Reception - Easter Bonnet Parade!

On Wednesday, pupils in Reception enjoyed parading their Easter bonnets in school.  We are very proud of how hard the children worked at home to make their beautiful bonnets.  Well done!
