Year 6 - Investigating Shadows
Thursday, 29 September 2016
Q. What happens when solid opaque object passes in front of a light beam?
A. Well pupils in year 6 know that a shadow is created!
As part of our science lesson this week, pupils in year 6 chose to investigate whether a shadow was bigger when it was closer to the light source or when it was further away from the light source.
Without a doubt, they proved to be real scientists- planning, choosing equipment, conducting the investigation, writing the results and coming up with a conclusion.
Well done everyone!
Read together in Year 4

Due to the rise of pupils with severe nut allergies we are asking parents to refrain from packing nuts or nut based products into their child’s packed lunches, e.g. peanut butter, nutella, packets of nuts.
Thank you for your support in this matter.

100% Attendance Reward
Last week saw our annual celebratory outing for those children who had accomplished the exceptional achievement of 100% attendance and punctuality for the last academic year.
23 children bounced and flipped their afternoon away at Jump Evolution – a great time was had by all!
Congratulations to all the children involved and a big thank you to the parents/carers who support them in this great achievement on a daily basis. I am sure that many other children at Hilldene will be inspired to reach this goal for this academic year.

Every week, teachers identify 2 outstanding pupils in their class who have had a fantastic week either academically or socially or both! These pupils are entered into the Golden Book and are announced during our Friday morning celebration assembly. Our fabulous winners in the infants receive a certificate in assembly and parents of the 'golden' children in the juniors receive a letter home, informing parents of their child's fantastic achievement.
Our sincere apologies to these children for the late publication of their fantastic achievement!
