Year 2 had an adventurous day exploring the Tower of London. The children were very excited and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day! Having experienced a real castle for themselves they are now looking forward to developing their knowledge further in this topic.
Reception have been writing letters to try and find out who is behind the door. They have been asking questions to find out who they are, and to ask for a potion.
Mrs Goodwin's writing group have been describing characters from Alice in Wonderland.
This afternoon, knocking was heard from the other side of the door, it was very exciting.
Without a doubt we have an exciting week ahead at Hilldene as we immerse ourselves in the enticing tale of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Whether we fall down a rabbit hole; swim through a sea of tears; attend a bizarre tea party or simply give evidence in court room drama, we are certain to have a fantastic week exploring wonderland's mysteries.
Remember World Book Day on Thursday...a chance to dress up and become one of the curious characters in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!
Thank you to all the parents who came to our maths stay and play on Wednesday.
The children enjoyed showing their parents how to write the number one and we counted to 20 by rote. The children are beginning to realise that not only objects but anything can be counted, including steps, claps and jumps. In our groups we described shapes talking about how many sides and corners they had. We then went on a shape hunt inside and outside the Nursery to find different shapes.
The children were very excited to use our new sandpit in the sunshine. We now have lots of space to dig, make sandcastles, rake and use our imagination.
Thank you to all those who attended our assembly on
Thursday9th of February. Many parents
have requested that we share our performance and our “TV chef video” on the
website. So, by popular demand, and with thanks to our wonderful technical
staff (and the aid of a Y6pupil)we are proud to present “Year 1 Spring Term
Assembly”.
