Year 6 PE basketball dance

Wednesday, 7 February 2018

This half term our PE focus has been basketball dance! It has been great working within a group and sharing our ideas. We devised our own success criteria which was built upon each week, aiming to included sections of both unison and canon along with jumps, turns and travelling sequences whilst incorporating the use of basketballs. It was often a challenge to ensure timing was accurate so it was vital we worked together as a team!

Nursery - Maths Day

On Friday it was Maths Day and Nursery investigated circles.
We learnt that circles have 1 side and 0 corners.
We looked for circles all around the Nursery and found lots; tyres, clocks, wheels, pots, holes in the bricks.
We looked at Kandinsky's painting of circles and created our own. Now we have a wonderful display in Nursery!

Year 6 - celebrate Maths day

On maths day Year 6 focused on the tetrahedron, aka the triangular based pyramid. We investigated its properties, including its edges, vertices, angles and faces. Using protractors we were able to construct nets and using art straws we created some impressive 3D models.
In literacy we were able to get creative and made some very imaginative wanted posters. The naughty tetrahedron's crimes varied from bullying the unfortunate triangle for not having as many faces to blinding poor Mrs Sphere with his sharp vertices! A fun, shape filled day was had by all! (Except for Mrs Sphere and the triangles)

Year 5 - Maths Day

On Friday pupils across the school enjoyed maths day. Here you can see 5B having fun on maths day with their shape, a triangular prism. We tried to see how many different ways we could make the shape with different types of material. Some of the materials were quite harder to use than others.
