Hilldene's Got Talent 2016!

Thursday, 30 June 2016

On Wednesday Hilldene Primary School hosted it's annual competition showcasing the many talents of it's pupils. 'Hilldene's Got Talent' kicked off in the morning with the Juniors. After a number of fantastic performances it was time to choose a winner. While the judges found it an excruciating task, the acts had to be narrowed down to a top three. In first place was Molly with a fantastic accapella version of 'All of You' which brought tears to some eyes. Solomon came in second and Robyn in third; both demonstrated their dancing talents.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of the infants and the junior hall once again became host to an array of impressive talents. After much deliberation first place was awarded to Kyla Mai for her lyrical dance. In second place was Jordan and in third were Freya, Jack and Ronnie .

It really is amazing how much talent there is at Hilldene. Well done to everyone!

Year 6 - Barton Hall Update

Despite the rainy weather we've been swimming, climbing, crawling through mud, swinging and challenging ourselves to be braver and tougher than we thought we were! Today everyone built rafts and went out onto the lake. Some teams got wetter than others. Many children voluntarily leapt into the water while others just fell in! It was like watching dominoes toppling in slow motion. Miss Amoah was blamed for her raft sinking and the instructors marvelled over Mrs Wallace's impressive balancing skills as she managed to be almost dry. Everything is very muddy but our spirits are not dampened. When we safely return on Friday there will be lots of washing to do!

KS2 Music Festival

Tuesday, 28 June 2016

Congratulations to our fabulous KS2 Choir who sung their socks off at the Junior Music Festival at the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch last week. With the theme of rock 'n' roll, it was a brilliant performance of 'We Built This City' by the tuneful team. Well done and huge thanks to Mrs Wheeler and Mrs Smith and to all the parents for your continued support.

Business as usual in Year 2!

Thursday, 23 June 2016

Due to the persistent, torrential rain last night, unfortunately the learning area outside our Year 2 classrooms has been flooded. However, this has not stopped our resilient learners who have de camped to the halls where they have continued with their learning in true heroic Hilldene fashion!

Writing exciting news reports about the flood, the conscientious comrades are enjoying a change of scenery while they continue with their lessons. Well done everyone!

Thank you to all the parents for your support and understanding.

Reception - Tropical Wings

Reception have had a very busy (but exciting) few weeks! Last week we had a fun and very successful trip to Tropical Wings where we met some mini-beasts up close, ventured into the lemur enclosure to see them being fed, watched some birds of prey flying and stroked some furry friends. Everyone was very well behaved (as usual) and our parent helpers were fantastic! On Wednesday morning we held our Reception assembly where we used our biggest voices to tell our grown ups all the exciting mini-beast things we have been learning about. Thank you to all those parents (and grandparents) who came along to support us!
