Year 6 - Braintree District Museum

Close your eyes and imagine being transported back in time… What excitement, how thrilling.
Well, year 6 experienced the next best thing: a visit to Braintree District Museum, where the children were catapulted to the war years: 1939 -1945.
Their imagination ran wild when the children tried on clothes worn by people who served in WWII and handled artefacts from that time.
Empathy was at large when the children role played what is was like to be an evacuee.
Fear struck in their hearts at the very sound of a siren: diving under the table to keep safe. It struck again at the sound of the strict 1940 teacher who ensured all children stood up before answering a question. She put them through their paces: letter writing, chanting tables and adding pounds shillings and pence.
Transported back to 2018, the children said their thank-you and goodbyes boarding the coach back to school. A memorable day was had by all.
