Year 6 bake bread

Thursday, 13 June 2019

In science, year 6 have been learning about microorganisms. We've found out some of their harmful effects, but they're not all bad: microbes are essential to making many foods we enjoy such as cheese, yoghurt and bread. Obviously we washed our hands first, then we grabbed our sieves and started baking - using yeast (a microorganism) to make our bread rise. There was a lot of kneading, proving and clearing up involved, but our little loaves were a great success. The whole school was filled with the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread and it was very tasty too!
