Year 6 - The Teaching Project
Monday, 21 July 2014
Not so long ago, two Year 6 children went to Mrs Davenport requesting the opportunity to teach children in younger year groups. An idea was formed to give all Year 6 children the opportunity to teach a group of children in another year group anything that they were interested in.
On Friday morning, Year 6 went to Year 2, 3 and 5 to teach their planned lessons. The younger children had the opportunity to learn to draw, improve football skills, practise maths skills, making Loom Bands and create stories – to name a few!
“That was exhausting! And look at how much marking I have to do! When am I supposed to do that?” Year 6 child – teaching Year 3 about shapes.
“That was excellent – when can they come back?” Year 5 child – learning to improve maths facts.
“I really enjoyed that. The kids were so well behaved and listened to everything I said!” Year 6 child – teaching Year 2 to improve the accuracy of throwing skills.
